On Sunday, the whole Henderson family went to see the World of Pharaohs at the Arkansas Arts Center. We had lunch at Best Impressions prior (it was delicious) and then went to the exhibit. Violet and Hallie were great gals and everyone enjoyed all of the Egyptian artifacts. It was amazing that some were over 5,000 years old. Thanks to Popi for a fun Sunday afternoon!

Travel Time: First trip to Grammie and Popi's
Violet's first trip to Grammie and Popi's was Saturday. Granted, they have seen her numerous times, we had just not made the trek to Edgemont. She and the dogs did well on the car ride. I am so proud of my girl (and my dogs)!

Social Events: Argenta UMC Shower
Our wonderful church, Argenta UMC, held a book shower for Violet today. It was wonderful with yummy food, punch and company. We feel very lucky to have such a great church family. Plus, Violet received many wonderful books to start her collection. And, as an added bonus, Pam made an adorable diaper cake.
Holiday Funtime: Happy Halloween at the Pumpkin Patch!
We took Violet to the Johnston Pumpkin Patch today. Grammie (mom) met us there for fun picking out pumpkins, checking out the animals and peeking through cutouts. Violet had a great time to be only 7 weeks old. I was excited that she fit into her pumpkin onesie that Joe and Becky gave her. The holidays have always been fun, but they will take on a new meaning and give us so much more joy being able to share them with our little gal! If you have never been to the Johnston Pumpkin Patch, it is a complete blast! Next year, we will definitely do the corn maze and take a hayride. We took a ton of photos, so check them out below! Fall is such a wonderful time of year!

Social Events: Henderson Family Reunion
We took Violet to the Henderson Family Reunion Saturday. I usually do not go to family reunions, but my Mimi was always on my case to go and see the family so I thought I owed it to her memory this year. It was a lot of fun. Everyone was so nice and sweet and there was so much love in the room. After a great meal (think Thanksgiving and Christmas meals and add homemade chocolate fried pies)Uncle Marion and Aunt Louise and others started pickin' and grinnin'. Violet loved the music. I don't know if you have ever been to a proper hootenanny, but it was fun. My grandpa died when my dad was 4 years old, yet the Henderson's have always embraced us like grandpa and Mimi were still here today. That is special and what family should be. Can't wait for next year's fun!
Social Events: Beach Boys Date Night
Last Sunday Wes and I had our first "date night" away from Miss Vi. She went and stayed with my friend Donna and her husband, Doug. She did pretty good and knowing she was with a trusted friend, we did well too. The Beach Boys played with the Arkansas Symphony at Robinson and it was awesome. Their song "God Only Knows" was our first dance at our wedding so it was special for us to see them and hear them in person. Although fun, we were glad to see our girl!

Social Events: Hot Springs Visit
Saturday, we took Violet to Hot Springs to meet her Uncle Russ, Aunt Emilie and Cousin Hunter. They live in Starkville, Mississippi, and came to visit and meet both Violet and Gavin. Violet did wonderful on the car ride and a good time was had by all.
Health Update: Violet's One Month Appointment
Violet went to the doctor on Friday for her one month checkup. She got a glowing review. The doctor actually said that she was "perfect". She weighed in at 7lbs 7oz and is 20 1/4 inches long. So we are finally getting some weight on our gal. She did really well when she got her shot and only cried for about 5 seconds. We feel so lucky and blessed to have such a healthy gal!

Milestones: Violet turns 1 month!
For the big birthday, Wes brought home yummy cupcakes from Cupcakes on Kavanaugh. They were so delicious...I wish Violet could have really enjoyed one. She will soon enough though (especially if she has her mommy's sweet tooth)! We will keep you posted on the blog during the month, but we are going to start celebrating monthly during her first year. Stay tuned for more Violet updates and fun family events. We love you all and are so glad to have all of you as part of Violet's life.
